What Is Damascus Steel?

Originally developed for Samurai swords, Damascus steel was first made to create blades that would be brittle enough to keep a sharp edge yet flexible enough to prevent shattering in battle. Ancient artisans discovered that when a brittle steel and a flexible steel were folded and forged together over and over, the two materials create a new metal that offers the best of both—strength yet flexibility.
Our Damascus steels have custom patterns that come from the folding and forging process, ensuring that each piece is subtly unique. The result is a ring that is both durable and imbued with the symbolism of the strength that comes when two unique parts come together to create something stronger than either could be on its own.
